Jerry Seinfeld new Netflix show
In his stand-up routine, Jerry Seinfeld delves into the quirks of Pop Tarts, questioning their enduring popularity. It’s classic Seinfeld material, showcasing his knack for highlighting the oddities of everyday life. He humorously points out the inherent absurdity of Pop Tarts, comparing them unfavorably to cereal in terms of taste and variety. Yet, despite their shortcomings, Pop Tarts remain a beloved breakfast staple. Seinfeld’s new Netflix show, Unfrosted, delves deeper into this comedic exploration. Here’s the stand-up bit that serves as the inspiration for the series:
Exploring the Cast and Concept
Seinfeld wears multiple hats in Unfrosted, serving as its star, creator, and director. He’s assembled an impressive ensemble cast, including Melissa McCarthy, Bill Burr, James Marsden, Dan Levy, Hugh Grant, Jim Gaffigan, Christian Slater, Jack McBrayer, Sarah Cooper, Adrian Martinez, and many others. However, there’s one casting choice that leaves me scratching my head: Amy Schumer. Personally, I’ve never found her comedic talents particularly compelling. Her presence in Season 2 of Only Murders In The Building was a disappointment for me. She seems to be one of those celebrities who rose to fame despite lacking real comedic prowess. Perhaps it’s just a matter of personal taste, but her style of humor doesn’t resonate with me.
Despite this, Unfrosted appears to be an entertaining comedy set in the 1960s, exploring the fusion of breakfast and capitalism and how an unremarkable yet wildly popular food item emerged. It’s a fitting analogy to many of today’s top pop artists—like the Pop Tart itself, strangely captivating despite its simplicity.
